CHAPTER XIX , XX

VIDYUT’S POV

I noticed she stirred in her sleep. I went closer, and when she opened her eyes, she looked at me as if silently asking who had done this.

I gave her my hand to help her sit up and said softly,

"Vani... I did this. I read that hot bags help with pain. After you fell asleep, you were groaning in your sleep, so I used it."

She looked at me for a moment and then smiled faintly.

"Thank you. It helped a lot."

Slowly, she removed the quilt—probably to go to the washroom. As she walked away, my eyes fell on the bedsheet. There was a small stain of blood. Her pad must have leaked.

I didn't want her to feel even a second of embarrassment. Quickly, I removed the bedsheet and carried it to the laundry. Maria noticed me and asked in Italian if I needed help. I asked her for a fresh bedsheet. She insisted she would change it herself, but I clearly refused. I didn't want Vani to feel uncomfortable in any way.

Back in the room, I tried putting the bedsheet on. Swear to God, I haven't done this in years—not after I returned to my business life. Every time I fixed one corner, another side wrinkled. Still, I tried my best.

When she returned after half an hour in changed clothes, I was sitting on the bed. Nervously, she said,

"Vii... can you get up? I have to change the bedsheet." I smiled, took her hand, and gently made her sit.

"I already did it. Don't take stress—just rest."

Then I pulled out a big bar of chocolate and placed it in her hand.

She looked guilty.

"But you shouldn't have done all this. I could've managed. You already did so much for me."

I smiled, pulled her closer, tucked her into bed, and said,

"You are my wife, my rabbit. I did nothing special, my bacha. You're not in the Thakur house—you're in your own home, in your husband's palace. Just rest. Maria will bring food. I asked her to make lasagna and pizza for you."

She hugged me tightly.

"Thank you so much for everything."

I hugged her back even tighter.

"No thank you. No sorry. We are family, my cutie wife."

She smiled cheekily, opened the chocolate bar, and started eating. Her small mouth and the soft chocolate left her lips completely smeared.

I laughed.

"You look like a little kid, Vani."

She didn't even realize it and kept munching. I gently wiped her lips with my thumb and instinctively licked the chocolate off. She looked at me with wide, squishy eyes, and I smiled back.

Later, Maria brought the food, and we ate together. At night, Vani wanted to watch an Indian movie, so we moved to the living room. We snuggled into each other—her head on my chest, a quilt over us, cushions everywhere.

Midway through the movie, an emotional scene came, and she started crying.

"Viii... she's crying because he left her," she said between sobs.

I tried hard not to smile. I knew they'd reunite in the end.

"Baby, no. Calm down. He won't leave her."

She looked unbelievably cute with her mood swings. She stared at me with puppy eyes, and I kissed her nose. She froze, her eyes instantly dropping to my lips.

Before anything could happen, a happy scream came from the TV. She turned back, completely absorbed again.

Later, out of curiosity, I searched online about what women feel during periods. Some studies mentioned mood swings, emotional sensitivity, and even a need for affection.

She didn't want anything. It was just her emotions.

After some time, she fell asleep. I pulled her into my lap and held her close. Since her flow was heavy, I knew I had to wake her so she could change, even if it annoyed her. I didn't want her to feel embarrassed again.

I carried her upstairs, sat on the bed, and gently woke her.

"Bacha, wake up. You need to change your pad. Then we'll sleep."

Half-asleep, she stood up. I followed her, worried she might bump into something. When she reached the bathroom, before she could even change, I shook her lightly.

"Vani, wake up, bacha."

She became a little more conscious.

"Change. I'll come back and carry you to bed," I said softly.

She was exhausted. Waking her every four hours irritated her, but it was necessary. By the third day, she told me she didn't need to be woken up anymore—her bleeding had reduced.

The conversation was awkward for her. She had never talked about these things with anyone before—neither had I. But now we are a couple. It was normal.

On the third day, while I was working in my study, she tiptoed toward my desk.

"Uhmm... can we go out tomorrow? Explore a little?"

Without looking up, I replied,

"No, Vani. We're going back to India."

"Why?" she shouted. "Please! I didn't know my... my period would come."

I looked up, pulled her onto my lap, and said calmly, "Relax. Tell me—do you want to explore, or do you want to go to college?"

She looked confused.

"College?"

I nodded.

"Yes. Your college starts in a few days. We need to prepare—books, subjects, everything."

She looked at me with fearful eyes.

And that's when I realized—

She wasn't excited.

She was scared.

VANI’S POV

I didn't want to go to college.
After what happened last time, that day still makes my heart shiver. I didn't want to stay alone—without him—or even be near that warden.

I hugged him, nuzzling my face into his neck.
"I... I... don't want to go to college," I whispered.

He asked in a confused but soothing tone, running his fingers through my hair,
"Why, baby?"

I shivered, a tear slipping from my eyes, and hugged him tighter.
"I don't want to lose you for the sake of my studies. I... I want you in my life."

He slowly cupped my face, his fingers brushing through my hair, and looked straight into my eyes, trying to ease my fear.
"No, I'm not going anywhere, bacha. What happened? Why are you saying this all of a sudden?"

I looked down and whispered,
"You left me last time... in college."

He smiled softly, took my left hand, rested his chin on my shoulder, and made me look at our ring fingers.
"Do you see our wedding rings? They're not just simple rings. They're proof that I'm yours—and I can't go anywhere without you. Not even to death. We'll stay together till infinity."

I looked at him, still a little skeptical.
"Uhmm... but—"

He cut me off with a kiss on my forehead.
"No buts. You rest on my lap. I have to sign some documents."

I smiled, rested my head on his shoulder, and slowly fell asleep in his lap.
I don't even know when he carried me back to our room and tucked me into bed

Next Day

I thought we were leaving the next day, but he said we wouldn't.
He didn't want me to get irritated while traveling because of my periods.

I told him my flow was already less—almost nothing—but he still insisted.
So finally, we left Italy on my fifth day.

I even packed his album so I could take more photos of him.

When we came back to his mansion, I didn't like this place as much as I loved staying in Italy...
but this was our home now, so we had to stay here.

As soon as we entered, all the staff was standing there. I was tired from traveling.
Vidyut said softly,
"You take rest for today. We'll work on your college things from tomorrow."

I nodded.
That day, I just unpacked our things, arranged everything, ate food with him, and slept.

Next Morning

When I woke up, he was already awake and ready for the day.
He smiled at me and said,
"Good morning, baby."

I smiled and went to him. He was sitting on the couch and pulled me into his lap.
I nuzzled into his chest, resting a little more.

He laughed softly.
"No, rabbit, wake up. We have to go shopping for your college and decide your subjects too. Your college is opening next week. We only have four days left."

I hummed, yawned, and he kissed my temple.

After taking a bath and getting fresh, I went downstairs for breakfast.
He was already waiting for me.

We ate together, but honestly... eating this kind of breakfast every day makes me sick.
I wanted Indian food so badly, but still, I ate quietly.

After breakfast, he took me to the study room and we decided on my course.
He even pushed me to take a subject that would help me improve my sketching,
so I could build a career in that.

After choosing everything, I asked,
"Vii... what will be the cost of my studies? It's such a big and prestigious college. The fees must be huge."

He smiled, cupped my face, and said,
"It doesn't matter. I want you to become a very good artist. You just focus on your career, not on such stupid things."

I narrowed my eyes.
"Tell me na... how much does it cost?"

He chuckled.
"Uhmm... it's 0.000001% of your husband's earnings."

I looked at him, confused.
"Huh? Then what is your income?"

This time, he looked at me with playful narrow eyes.
"You know you shouldn't ask a man about his earnings. But if you still want to know... you tell me your weight."

I gasped.
"You're so bad! That's not good manners—to ask someone's weight!"

He laughed.
"Very good, Vani. Now no questions about earnings either. That's also bad manners."

Arghhh! I couldn't fight him anymore on this topic.

After everything was done, he told me he was going to the office for some work.
I could stay in the mansion or do sketching.

I was a little scared of staying alone...
but I also knew I had to face my fear myself.

After he left, I stayed in the room sketching, but then my stomach growled.

How can someone live on breads, salads, and soups every day?
I can't live without Indian food—especially my dal-chawal...
with onions and green chilies...
and that Bihari-style aloo chokha.

I'm craving it badly.
Vii only knows khichdi in the name of Indian food.

So today...
I'm going to cook for myself.

And most importantly— he's not at home.

I slowly went downstairs toward the kitchen.
The kitchen was almost empty, so I quietly started searching for the ingredients to cook.

Suddenly, the elderly maid came in and asked politely,
"Ma'am, do you need something?"

I stood quietly in front of her.
She had been nice to me before we left, but I didn't know if she would still be the same now.

She pressed gently,
"Ma'am, speak up..."

I stammered,
"Uhmm... actually, I... I wanted to cook."

She smiled.
"Ma'am, you don't need to. I will cook whatever you want."

My face dropped, and she noticed it immediately.
"Okay, ma'am, you can cook. But what do you want to make?"

My face instantly bloomed.
"Indian food. I can't eat Italian and English breakfast every day. I'll get sick like this."

She laughed softly.
"Ohh okay, but there are many things we don't have at home because sir doesn't eat them."

I made an "ohh" face.
My whole mood of cooking and eating flopped.

Just when I was about to leave, the maid said,
"But we can give a list to the driver to bring the items."

My face lit up.
"Really? We can do that?"

She smiled.
"Yeah, why not? You write the list. I'll give it to the driver. He'll bring everything."

I happily started jotting down the ingredients.
Halfway through, I realized I didn't even have money.

As she looked at me, I said softly,
"But I don't have money. How will the driver bring the things?"

She thought for a second.
"Uhmm... I can pay for now, but... I also need money to run my house. If you promise to repay me later..."

I instantly smiled.
"Yes, yes, for sure! I'll repay you as soon as Vii comes back."

She nodded, took the list, and gave it to the driver with the money.
Within half an hour, all the ingredients arrived.

I quickly took them and started arranging everything in the kitchen.
The maid looked at me happily and said,
"Let me help you."

I let her.
I was cooking for me, for her, and for Vii.

Suddenly, hot refined ghee splattered on my hand.

"Aaah!" I cried in pain.
The burning was sharp and shocking.

She rushed to me, grabbed my hand, and put it under cold water.
"You are such a kid," she scolded.
"You can't even cook properly. You should focus while cooking. Where were you looking?"

I didn't feel hurt by her scolding.
It felt like Malti Maa scolding me for being careless.

She quickly grated the potato and applied it to my hand.
"Now sit. I'll cook. You just tell me what to do. This will stop blisters. We'll see after half an hour how bad the burn is."

I nodded like an obedient kid.

Then she realized herself and said,
"Sorry, ma'am. I shouldn't have shouted."

I smiled softly.
"Please don't call me ma'am. Call me Vani. When you scolded me like this, I remembered my Malti Maa. Can you please be normal with me?"

She looked shocked.
"But if sir hears this, he will get angry."

I shook my head.
"No, he won't. I promise.
I feel very alone in this mansion after Vii leaves.
If you become my friend, it will really help me.
After that incident, everyone is scared of me... but I never wanted that."

She looked at me sadly and then nodded.
"Okay... I'll be your friend."

I smiled instantly, and she smiled too.
"Now sit and tell me how to cook."

The food was almost done.
I guided her for the last step.

When everything was ready, I said,
"I cooked this for you, for me, and for Vii. Please eat and tell me how it is."

She smiled.
"For sure."

Just then, two other women entered the kitchen.
When they saw me, they quietly went the other way.

My heart sank.
I'm not that bad... I never wanted them to be scared of me.

She noticed my expression and said softly,
"Don't take stress. They are just scared because of that incident.
Before you came, the staff lived freely because sir didn't stay in the mansion much.
Now he lives here permanently, and his behavior has changed after you came.
Some maids got transferred—it shocked everyone.
People need time to adjust."

I hummed but didn't say anything.

She suddenly asked,
"Do you know my name?"

I shook my head.

"My name is Ellie."

I smiled.
"Ellie... you have a nice name."

She smiled back.
"You too."

She then said,
"Now let's wash your hand and see how bad the burn is."

We checked.
There were only three or four tiny burns—small, but painful.

She brought gel and applied it.
"Now go rest."

I nodded.
Thankfully, it was my left hand...
so I could still hold Vii when he comes back.

AUTHOR’S POV

Vidyut had just returned home. As soon as he stepped inside, he saw Vani sitting in the living room, as if she had been waiting for him.

The moment she noticed him, her face lit up and she ran towards him.

Vidyut smiled seeing her so excited. As she stopped in front of him, he asked, slightly amused,
"What happened? Why are you so happy?"

Vani gave him a squishy smile and replied proudly,
"I cooked today."

Vidyut frowned in confusion.
"Why? Where is the staff?"

Vani glared at him playfully.
"They are here only. But I wanted to cook. I was craving Indian food, so I cooked for myself... and for you... and for Ellie too."

Vidyut raised an eyebrow and smiled.
"Oh... for Ellie too? So you finally started talking to her?"

Vani nodded happily.
"Yes. Now you go freshen up. Then we'll eat."

Vidyut went to change and soon returned wearing a brown shirt and black lower. By the time he came back, Vani had already started serving the food.

While she was serving, Vidyut suddenly noticed small burn marks on her hand.

His expression changed instantly.

He grabbed her hand gently but firmly.

"Vani... did you get burned?"

Vani gave a nervous smile.
"Actually... while cooking..."

Vidyut's face hardened. His tone became curt.

"Vani, what was the need for you to cook? Look at this... you burned your hand."

Vani casually pulled her hand back.

"It's just a few small dots. And it's on my left hand only."

Vidyut still looked annoyed.

"Sit. I will serve the food."

He took the bowl from her and began serving both of them.

Soon they started eating.

Vani watched him eagerly and asked,
"How is the food?"

Vidyut only hummed in response.

Vani's excitement faded a little. She knew he was upset because of the burn.

She pouted slightly and said softly,
"Don't be angry na, Viii. It's just a burn."

Vidyut looked at her seriously, though his voice softened.

"But what was the need for you to cook? You must be in pain."

Vani shook her head.

" Vii , I'm not in pain. Ellie applied grated potato on it. After that it didn't hurt much."

The moment she said that, Vidyut frowned again.

"So Ellie was there and still you got burned? What was she doing? Watching you?"

He was clearly about to get angrier.

Vani knew only one trick that could calm him down.

She had never done it before... but she didn't want him to stay angry.

So she suddenly stood up.

Vidyut looked at her in confusion.

Before he could ask anything, she sat directly on his lap.

He froze, startled.

Vani wrapped her arms around him and spoke quickly,

"Viii... please don't be angry. Already because you got angry earlier at those three women, all the staff are scared of me. No one talks to me properly. Everyone thinks I'll complain to you."

She sighed softly.

"I made Ellie my friend with so much effort. You go to the office all day... and I feel very lonely at home. And when I see the staff scared of me, it feels even worse."

Her voice became softer.

"Please, Viii... don't be angry. Even Ellie scolded me and told me to be careful. She didn't even let me cook after that. And when we didn't have Indian ingredients, she bought them with her own money."

She looked at him hopefully.

"So please let it go. Don't be angry. Be happy na... I cooked for the first time after our marriage."

Vidyut's expression softened immediately.

He sighed and gently touched her cheek.

"But please, Rabbit... take care of yourself. I don't want to see you in pain, even if it's something small. Next time you cook, you will cook carefully... or you will cook in front of me."

Vani's smile returned.

She tilted her head and teased,
"So you even know how to cook?"

Vidyut immediately looked slightly nervous.

"Arre... let's focus on your cooking. It's very delicious."

Vani burst out laughing.

Between bites, Vidyut fed her a few pieces of food, and she fed him back.

After dinner, they went to their room.

Vidyut took out an ointment and carefully applied it to the burn marks on her hand.

Vani watched him quietly and suddenly said, smiling,

"You know... you look cute."

Vidyut chuckled.

"You are just like Kashish. She also says I'm cute. But boys are handsome, not cute."

Vani shrugged.

"I don't care about others. For me, you are cute."

Vidyut smiled.

"Come, let's sleep. Tomorrow we'll go shopping for your college things. Whatever you need."

Vani nodded, then suddenly remembered something.

"Viii... can you give some money to Ellie? She bought the ingredients for me with her own money and she—"

Before she could finish, Vidyut interrupted.

"Don't worry. I'll give it to her tomorrow."

Vani smiled gratefully.

Vidyut tucked her into the blanket and pulled her close. She snuggled into him.

After a moment she said softly,

"Viii... tell me a story from your childhood."

Vidyut laughed.

"Vani, you're such a baby. You need a bedtime story too?"

Vani squished his arm.

"Of course I do. Now start telling."

Vidyut chuckled and began telling her stories about his childhood.

Slowly... his voice started getting slower and heavier.

He fell asleep while talking.

Vani, however, was still awake.

When she noticed his voice had stopped and his breathing had deepened, she smiled softly.

"Finally he slept... otherwise he would start working again after I sleep," she thought.

Smiling to herself, she closed her eyes and soon drifted into sleep too.

The next day, Vidyut took Vani to the mall to buy everything she would need for college—bags, books, clothes, and other supplies.

The mall was a little crowded, and Vani held Vidyut's hand tightly, afraid she might get lost.

But the moment they entered the stationery store, all her nervousness disappeared.

Her eyes sparkled.

Every shelf was filled with cute and aesthetic things—colorful pens, pastel notebooks, tiny charms, stickers, and decorative clips.

Vani started looking at everything with pure excitement.

She looked exactly like a kid visiting a candy shop for the first time.

Vidyut watched her with a soft smile.

He had brought her there to buy important things—bags, textbooks, and proper stationery—but Vani's attention was completely captured by the cute things that had absolutely no real use in her life.

While Vidyut was searching for a good college bag for her, he called out,

"Vani, look... do you like this bag or do you want some other kind?"

But Vani wasn't even looking at him.

She was holding his hand with both of her hands like a small cat clinging to someone.

Her eyes were fixed on a display.

Tiny bunny and flower charms were hanging there. Next to them were mini cutters and paper clips shaped like cats, carrots, and little animals.

She stared at them in complete fascination.

Seeing her so focused, Vidyut leaned closer and whispered in her ear,

"They look so good."

Still staring at them, Vani replied dreamily,

"Yeah... they are super cute."

Vidyut blinked in shock.

She hadn't even realized he was teasing her.

He whispered again,

"Let's buy them."

Vani nodded quickly.

Vidyut was even more shocked now.

He leaned closer again and whispered,

"Who needs college and studying? Let's just buy these things only."

Vani nodded again automatically.

Then suddenly she froze.

Slowly she turned her head and looked at him.

Realization hit her.

She gave him a nervous laugh.

"Arre... I was just looking at them. Let's buy college stuff first."

Vidyut chuckled and gently twirled her so she would face him instead of the cute display.

After that, they began buying the actual things she needed—bags, books, pens, pencils, and other stationery.

But Vani's eyes kept drifting to other cute things again and again.

Finally, Vidyut sighed and said,

"Okay Vani... tell me what you want to buy."

Vani's face lit up immediately.

She pointed somewhere excitedly.

"That!"

Vidyut took a step in that direction.

"No no! Not that one!" she quickly said.

She pointed somewhere else.

"That one!"

Vidyut took another step there.

"Nooo... not that either. The one on the right side!"

Vidyut stopped and looked at her with a stern expression.

Vani gave him a sheepish smile.

"It's not my fault... everything looks so good."

Vidyut hummed thoughtfully.

Then suddenly he said,

"Okay. Let's do one thing. I'm giving you 100 seconds."

Vani blinked.

"Go and grab whatever you want. Anything. However much you want. Don't think about the budget."

The moment he finished, Vani ran into the store.

Within seconds she disappeared between the shelves.

Vidyut burst out laughing.

He leaned against a counter, watching her run around the store like a whirlwind.

Honestly, if she asked, he would buy the entire store for her.

But right now, he just wanted to watch her enjoy herself.

Every few seconds she came running back and dropped things near him—stickers, clips, tiny notebooks, colorful pens.

Vidyut kept smiling at her childish excitement.

Finally, when the 100 seconds were over, he called out,

"Vani! Come here. Your time is over."

Vani slowly walked back toward him with a sulking face.

She looked like she was about to cry.

"I couldn't buy that one..." she mumbled sadly.

Vidyut tried very hard not to laugh.

"It's okay rabbit . We'll buy it later. Now let's bill these things."

Vani sadly held his hand again and leaned on his arm as if she had lost something very important.

While the cashier started billing the items, Vidyut leaned toward the shop owner and quietly said,

"I want to buy every product you sell. Send me five pieces of each item. And whatever new items come in the future, send those too."

Vani overheard him.

Her eyes widened.

She tugged his arm quickly.

"Viii! There was only one item left! There's no need to buy everything—and that too five pieces! I'm only one person!"

Vidyut just smiled.

He paid a hefty amount without hesitation.

Soon the guards started carrying multiple bags filled with stationery.

Vani kept complaining while walking beside him,

"This is such a waste of money... why did you do that..."

Vidyut gently squeezed her hand and said softly,

"Because I want to waste all my money on you."

Then he smiled.

"Now stop complaining. When we reach home, you can enjoy all the stationery as much as you want."

Vani looked at him, speechless for a moment.

Then slowly... she smiled.

"Okay.

When they reached home, Vidyut led Vani to an empty room next to their bedroom.

He opened the door and said,
"This room is for you. You can keep all your stationery here."

Vani's eyes widened in happiness.

The room was completely empty, which meant she could arrange everything exactly how she wanted.

Without wasting another second, she rushed inside and started opening the bags excitedly.

Pens, notebooks, clips, charms, stickers—she began arranging everything carefully like little treasures.

Seeing her so happy, Vidyut smiled softly.

He quietly left the room so she could arrange everything peacefully.

Almost an hour passed.

It was already dinner time.

Vidyut went upstairs and entered the room again.

Some things were already arranged neatly on the shelves, while Vani was still sitting on the floor, sorting the rest.

The moment she saw him, she pouted.

"Viii, tell me na... where should I keep this?"

Vidyut chuckled lightly.

"Vani, you can decide that later. Come, let's have dinner first."

Vani shook her head with a pout.

"Just ten minutes. I'll finish arranging this and then come. You go sit."

Vidyut nodded.

He didn't want to disturb her happiness.

So he went downstairs and sat at the dining table, waiting for her.

Fifteen minutes passed.

Ellie came near him and asked politely,

"Sir, should I serve the food?"

Vidyut replied calmly,

"No, thank you. I'm waiting for her. And about the money you spent yesterday, tell my manager. He will give it to you."

Ellie nodded and left.

After a moment, Vidyut called loudly,

"Vanii bachaa! Come have dinner first!"

From upstairs, Vani shouted back in the same loud voice,

"Coming! Just five more minutes!"

Vidyut sighed and waited again.

Five more minutes passed.

She still didn't come.

Finally, Vidyut stood up and walked back upstairs.

When he entered the room, he saw Vani still sitting on the floor, surrounded by stationery, completely lost in arranging them.

Without saying anything, Vidyut walked toward her and suddenly scooped her up in his arms.

Vani gasped in surprise.

"Viii!"

Vidyut said firmly,

"First dinner. Or I'll lock this room."

Vani sulked and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"You know you're not cute. You're bad. I wanted to arrange my stationery."

Vidyut smiled while carrying her downstairs.

"Yes, I am bad. If you don't eat on time or sleep on time, then I have to be strict. You are a rabbit... and rabbits need strictness."

Vani glared at him.

When he sat on the chair, he placed her on his lap.

He picked up a bite of food and brought it near her mouth.

Vani huffed and said,

"If I'm a rabbit, then you're a wolf."

Then she took the bite angrily.

Vidyut burst out laughing.

"Oh... so I'm a wolf?"

Vani nodded and turned away dramatically, starting to eat by herself.

Vidyut gently caressed her head.

"Arre, my little rabbit got angry? Bacha... I had no one to eat with except you. I was very hungry, so I called you. Sorry."

Vani paused.

She suddenly realized she might have been a little unfair.

Yes, she was excited about the stationery... but she forgot he had been waiting for her.

She quickly shook her head.

"No no, I'm not angry. I was just teasing you, Viii."

Then her eyes sparkled.

"After eating... can we go out to eat ice cream?"

Vidyut looked at her smiling face and nodded.

"Hmm."

This time Vani began feeding him between bites while happily telling him about all the stationery she bought.

After dinner, Vidyut drove her to an ice cream parlor.

When they reached, he said,

"Decide what you want to have."

Vani studied the menu for a moment.

"Chocolate and vanilla."

Vidyut nodded and placed the order.

Vani looked at him curiously.

"What about yours?"

Vidyut shrugged.

"I don't like ice cream that much."

Vani looked at him in shock.

"Who doesn't like ice cream? You know, in Thakur house I used to get leftover ice cream sometimes... and even that I used to love eating."

The moment she said that, Vidyut's expression hardened.

His voice became serious.

"There is nothing like that here. You can eat as much as you want."

Vani immediately realized she had said something that upset him.

Just then Vidyut returned with the ice cream cups, and they sat inside the car.

Vani took the first bite.

Then she held the spoon in front of him and said,

"Viii, say aa."

She exaggerated the action by opening her mouth wide.

Vidyut smiled at her childishness and took a bite.

Vani then took a spoonful herself.

But the moment the cold ice cream touched her teeth, she trembled and squeezed her eyes shut.

Vidyut frowned.

"What happened?"

Vani gave a sheepish smile.

"Sensitivity."

Vidyut chuckled softly.

They slowly finished the ice cream, though Vani made sure he ate a few bites too.

After that, they returned home.

The next day, Vani spent almost the entire day inside her stationery room.

She arranged, sorted, and assembled everything happily.

By night, she finally packed her college bag.

Tomorrow... was her first day of college.

And she was both nervous and excited.
