VIDYUTโS POVย
My wife had been so nervous to meet them. She always gets insecure about how she looks and how she behaves in front of new people. But the moment I took her inside the kitchen and calmed her, she eased down. Her heart listens to mine. That's all it takes for her to feel safe.
When we came back to the living room, those three idiots were still waiting. They looked at me with concern, silently asking if she was okay. I gave them a small nod that it was fine.
We sat down. There was a small awkward silence for a minute... But obviously, silence doesn't survive long when Daksh is in the room.
With his fake serious tone and that devilish smirk which never leaves his face, he opened his mouth and ruined peace "Sorry bhabhi, we came so late at night. But we wanted to see if our friend was actually telling the truth... that he is married. And married to a living girl, and not to one of his men."
I looked at him...
Just one question came to mind
How can a person create stupidity every single time he opens his mouth?
Controlling my irritation, I gave him a tight smile and asked, "And why would I lie about being married? And why on earth would I marry a man?"
Daksh shrugged dramatically, absolutely shameless. "Aree, we have never seen you with a girl. You are always surrounded by your men. So it was a logical guess."
I narrowed my eyes and replied, "Oh okay. So since you are always surrounded by books, that means you are married to them?"
Reyansh snorted.
Karthik hid his laugh.
Daksh looked betrayed for 2 seconds.
And then...We heard a small laugh beside me.
I turned.
My little wife was laughing.
Actually laughing.
Her nervousness had loosened.
But the moment she noticed all of us looking at her, her laughter faded immediately. She sat up straight and said with a shy smile, "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to laugh. It's just-"
Before she could panic again, Karthik jumped in smoothly, "It's not your mistake. These two have been like this since we are friends . They argue over the smallest things like actual kids."
Excuse me?
ME? A KID?
I am a whole 29-year-old man with an empire.
I looked at them and said sternly, "Okay. You guys met my wife. Now leave. It's late. I want time with my wife."
Vani looked at me with big shocked eyes. And of course, Daksh had to ruin that moment too.
He placed his hand on his heart dramatically, "Oh, now he doesn't need his friends. Now he has a wife. We are nothing. Dead to him."
I deadpanned. "When you get married, you'll cling to your wife like a koala. Don't talk."
Reyansh and Karthik burst out laughing because the image was too accurate.
They were about to leave when Karthik bent down to Vani and said gently, "Both the babies miss you a lot."
Vani's face instantly softened and she smiled, "I miss them too." And that was it. They waved.
"It was really nice meeting you, bhabhi."
She blushed.
They left.
She looked at me the moment the door closed, "Your friends are really nice. And did you hear? The babies miss me."
I smiled. She was back to her cute rabbit self.
I held her hand and we went inside.
"Did you eat dinner?" I asked. She shook her head proudly, "No, I wanted to eat with you. It's a celebration."
I raised a brow, "And how do you know it was good news? What if it wasn't?"
She grinned and made me sit, "Because I prayed to the god who gave you to me. I told Him to give you whatever you want."
I went still. Her words hit something deep inside me.
I pulled her into my lap and held her close. "Thank you. Truly."
She cupped my face and said, "What is there to thank? It's my responsibility. And I wanted to do it."
We ate together.
Talking about our day.
I told her that I got back one of my ancestral properties.
I didn't tell her everything about the mafia.
She isn't ready for that world yet.
As we finished eating, she took me near the sketch and said, "Guess who this baby is..?" I looked at it carefully. It looked a lot like me, so I asked with a small, shy smile, "Is it... me?"
She grinned in excitement and said, "Aap jeete ho 7 crore!"
( you won 7 crore )
I blinked, completely confused. She looked at my face and then asked, "You didn't get it??" I shook my head honestly. "Aree it's a meme!" she laughed. I made an "O" face and she burst out laughing again.
We went back to our room, changed, and then lay down in bed. She hugged my left shoulder, resting against me. After a few seconds she asked softly, "In real, you didn't have anyone before me, right?"
I nodded truthfully.
She looked at me again, narrowing her eyes a bit, "So you didn't even have any girl friends?"
I shook my head again.
She smirked a little and asked, "Okay fine. After me, with whom will you stay?"
I looked at her closely, "Do you want the real answer?"
She nodded firmly.
And I said, serious and plain, "No one. If you didn't stay in this world... then what would I do?"
She was shocked hearing that. She said softly, "You can do so many things... like enjoying your life, helping people."
I turned slightly toward her and said, "I can't do anything without you. Now stop this topic. I have never imagined my life without you, and I'm not in the mood to think about that either."
She looked at me with an overwhelmed expression and hugged me tightly.
We both fell asleep just like that.
THE NEXT DAY
It was a very special day for me, because now I could take her anywhere in public without any fear . And today, I wanted to celebrate with her... because I was now officially the King of Italy.
As she woke up, I looked at her and said with a smile, "Wake up, wifey. We're going to explore the city."
Her eyes sparkled, "Really?"
"Yes," I said, still smiling. "Now go get ready. I bought a dress for you."
She went to freshen up, and about an hour later, she stepped out wearing a white floral dress. Long flared sleeves, a soft modest neckline, her hair open, and that little nuptial chain resting gracefully at her collarbone. Her small heels completed the look.
She looked ethereal.
She asked, "How am I looking?"
I walked closer, held her gaze and said,"Perfect."
Her whole presence felt like she belonged to me. Completely.
I took her soft, warm hand and asked, "Shall we go?"
She smiled and nodded.
We drove to the city and walked through Milan's old streets. We clicked pictures, admired the historical buildings. What she didn't know was that my bodyguards were around us, quietly, ensuring everything stayed safe.
After a while, she said tiredly, "I want food now."
I laughed softly, and we headed to a pizza place, but she stopped midway and pointed, "Look! A pastry shop. I want something sweet-savoury first."
So we went inside and took a seat.
I ordered: Croissant, Panettone, Cannoli, Bomboloni, Tiramisu and a hot chocolate for her.
When the food arrived, she didn't eat. She just looked at me.
"What?" I asked, confused. "Eat. Why are you waiting?"
She giggled and took a bite of the bomboloni. Her eyes closed instantly, like she was in pure bliss. I couldn't help but chuckle.
She kept tasting everything, rating each one in all seriousness. Then she looked at me and said, "You eat something too."
I smiled gently, "No. I avoid sugar. You eat."
She pouted a little, "Then you should've told me..."
I reassured her softly, "It's okay, bacha. You eat. I eat. It's the same thing. Now finish, we have more places to explore."
She smiled and continued.
After finishing, I paid-but suddenly she clutched her stomach and winced. "What happened, bacha?" I asked, concern tightening my voice.
"I don't know," she whispered. "I'm feeling a sudden ache in my belly..."
The pastries were fresh, I knew that. Still, I confirmed with the staff. Everything was fine. Yet the pain... the level of it... something felt different.
I held her hand and said gently, "Let's go home. You need rest."
But the moment I tried to stand, she gripped my hand tightly and shook her head, eyes wide, almost scared.
I sat back, moved my chair close, and spoke softly, "Vani... tell me. Do you know what happened?"
She nodded, but she couldn't meet my eyes.
I leaned in a little, whispering, "What happened, Vani..?"
She swallowed, staring down at her lap, and said slowly, "I... got... my... periods."
VANIโS POV
I got my periods
I got my periods.
Shit.
I had been feeling slight cramps since morning, but I ignored them because I was so excited to go out with him, to explore the city. And now this happened. I could feel the wetness down there. My heart sank. I was sure my clothes were ruined.
He looked at me gently and said, "Calm down, bacha. It's normal."
But I couldn't even look at him. I just nodded, eyes fixed on my lap.
He tried again, a little hesitant,
"Did you feel like you leaked? I don't know much about... women's things, but you can tell me. Are your clothes...?"
Before he could finish, I cut him off quickly, irritated by pain and embarrassment both.
"No. They aren't okay ."
I was wearing white. We were in Milan. And I was with my husband... a man I had only recently started opening my heart to. My chest tightened.
He said softly, "Wait for me here. I'm coming."
I stared at him as he walked away. Shocked. And then I started cursing myself for being so careless about this. I knew this always happened to me. I always bled heavily. It always hurt. And still, I didn't carry anything. I was so excited that I forgot myself.
Within a few minutes, he came back.
This time with one of his coats in his hands.
He said quietly, "Stand up. I'll tie it from behind, so no one sees."
I couldn't look at him. I felt like crying.
But I stood up anyway and whispered, "Okay."
He stepped behind me and wrapped his coat around my waist. The sleeves came around to the front, and he tied them gently. He leaned forward, eyes searching my expression, and asked softly, "Will you be able to walk, or should I carry you?"
My voice was barely a breath, "I can walk."He nodded.
Then... he did something that just broke me from inside. He took out his handkerchief... and wiped the chair so the next person wouldn't see any stain.
He didn't say anything. No judgments. No discomfort. Just quiet care.
Then he took my hand. His other hand came to my waist for support.
We walked out together.
The car was already waiting. He opened the back door, held it, and helped me sit. Then he went around and started driving.
I didn't ask where we were going.
After a few minutes, he stopped. I looked around.
We weren't near the mansion.
He turned slightly and said, "I keep spare clothes in the car. If you're uncomfortable, you can change into something." I didn't speak. I couldn't.
He stepped out, opened the trunk, took out some of his extra clothes, and placed them on the seat beside me. He said gently, "The pants will be loose for you. So... don't wear them yet. We'll manage."
And he stepped away, giving me space.
I stared at the clothes in front of me and my throat tightened.
Because he didn't know.
At my parents' house, when my periods came, I wasn't allowed to leave my room for three days. I wasn't given hot bags. I wasn't allowed tablets for pain. Proper food was like a luxury. I was supposed to just bear it. Quietly.
And here he was...
Tying his coat around me. Wiping the chair so no one else feels awkward. Driving me away from crowds so I don't feel exposed.
Offering clothes.
Offering comfort.
Offering dignity.
Something I never had.
And my chest ached more from that... than from the pain.
And suddenly, a knock came on the window. I looked up - he was standing there with a shopping bag.
"Here... I got some essentials for you. I'm right outside, you can change. And if you need anything else, tell me. There's a store nearby, I'll get it," he said softly.
I just nodded.
As he walked away, I opened the packet - there were almost 6-7 packs of pads, all different sizes, a pack of panties, wipes and tissues.
My chest tightened. I genuinely wanted to sob loudly at that moment... but I couldn't let him wait outside for so long. So I started changing quickly.
After a while, I placed everything back in the bag and began cleaning the car seat, just in case any blood had dropped. I was wearing his black shirt - it reached my knees but I still felt so exposed. And then suddenly, another knock.
I rolled the window down.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
I couldn't look at him out of embarrassment. And if I did, I was sure I'd break down... so I just whispered, "Yeah... let's go home."
He came back into the car and drove straight to his mansion.
When we reached, he opened the door for me, placed his coat gently over my legs, and then suddenly scooped me up.
I gasped. "Noo, no... you don't have to. I can walk."
But he didn't say a word. He just held me tighter, carried me to the room and made me stand carefully.
And the moment my feet touched the floor, I rushed inside the bathroom to change and freshen up.
As I went, I took a long, soothing bath. For a few minutes, the warmth made me forget the pain shooting through my body. But once I stepped out, the ache returned-sharp, unbearable. I slowly walked into the closet to change, struggling with every movement.
When I came back, he wasn't in the room. I looked around, confused... then at the bed. At that moment, all I wanted was to lie down, but I didn't know if I should. In the Thakur house, they never let me sit anywhere in the room without permission. I wasn't allowed to step out either. The old fear crawled back into my chest.
So I just... stood there. Waiting for him to return.
After a while, he came back. The moment his eyes fell on me, he walked toward me, concern softening his expression.
"Are you fine, Vani?" he asked gently.
Shame burned in my chest, but I still nodded, avoiding his eyes.
"Why are you not looking at me? Look at me," he said quietly.
I lifted my gaze slowly.
"Good girl," he whispered, "I know you must be in pain. Come, take some rest. I've told Maria and Olive to prepare something for you to eat."
He guided me to the bed, helped me sit, and pulled the blanket over me with so much care that my throat tightened.
"Don't take stress about anything... what happened, what didn't. You're my wife, my responsibility. I did what I should do, and I'll keep doing it," he said softly.
My eyes filled with tears.
"What happened..?" he asked, sitting beside me.
I looked at him, my voice breaking.
"Thank you... for everything you did."
He gave a small, reassuring smile.
"It's okay, bacha. Now lie down. Sleep. Don't think about anything."
I wanted to tell him, but the words felt embarrassing.
"My... um... period flow gets too heavy. I need to change every four hours or it leaks. Please... wake me in three hours," I murmured.
He looked confused, like he wanted to ask something, but didn't.
"Okay," he said softly.
I lay down despite the pain, and eventually sleep dragged me under.
Some time later, I stirred awake. Something warm was resting on my stomach. When I touched it, I felt a hot water bag. Slowly, I lifted it and placed it beside me-only to realize there were two more hot bags tucked gently under my legs.
A wave of relief washed over me.
