55. HE WAS MY LOVE

AUTHORโ€™S POVย

Her eyes widened with shock as she remembered his words from that night about knowing many things but waiting for the right time to tell her. "You knew..." she stammered, stepping back in disbelief

Abhimanyu felt devastated seeing his wife's face filled with hurt. He took a step towards her, speaking in a guilty tone, "Yes, I knew your entire past, but I swear-"

Shivnya stepped back further, shouting through her tears, "You're just like them!"

"Shivui-" Abhimanyu moved closer, but she pushed him away and said in a low, trembling voice while wiping her tears, "Shhh, I don't want to talk to you, Abhi.

She wiped her face thoroughly, but the tears were unstoppable, for the first time she cried in front of her family because she felt betrayed from her husband, from her love.Approaching Viren, she spat out in a bitter tone, "I hate you. You betrayed me horribly. Why didn't you let me kill him? Especially after his son tried to harass me..."

"Tell me!" she demanded, her rage spilling over. Viren, breaking his silence, shouted back in guilt and anger, "Don't forget your madness. You were in therapy for five years. Have you forgotten your condition back then? You started to think of death as a game. If I had let you, you would have killed him and then yourself. I couldn't lose my daughter. Every day you had new ideas on how to kill him brutally."

Shivnya interrupted, her voice rising in fury, "So what? Do you think he won't die like that now? I will still kill him, just as brutally. Don't forget, I have Rajvanshi blood in me. I inherited all your sins."

Divi and Sanj emerged from their room, secretly watching their sister.

"That's exactly what I regret," Viren said defeatedly, coming closer and caressing her head. " Beta , Kill him like a human. You're giving him a death worse than an animal's."

She looked up at her grandfather and said in a dark, devilish yet low tone, "He deserves it. He killed my love. He's been in a coma for nine years. How does his face not haunt you? He was my love."

Viren, shouting, slapped the truth on her face, but it felt like acid to her. "He wasn't your love. It's just your anxious attachment, your illness."

"Shut up, Mr. Rajvanshi! He was my first love, whom you killed. Not a word more about this. I won't listen to anything else. Say whatever you want, but don't question my love. I loved him wholeheartedly," she shouted, crying her heart out, collapsing to the floor, powerless to fight for her love or against her family.

Abhimanyu, seeing her, his heart aching, quickly went to her, taking her in his embrace and wiping her tears. Divi and Sanj also ran to her, shouting, "Diii!"

"Divi, Sanj," she looked up, seeing them seated near her. Slowly, the three of them helped her sit on the couch.

"Where were you both? Why didn't you come to see me? Why?" she complained between sobs. Sanj wiped her tears, asking, "Diii, why are you crying? What happened?"

Shivnya didn't answer, just looking at them, fearing her haunting dream might come true today.

"Diii, tell us, did someone say something?" Divi asked. Nandini came near and dragged her children away.

"Mom, what are you doing?" Sanj shouted, trying to jerk her hand free.

"Get away from her. Stay away from my children, get lost from here " Nandini shouted.

"Mom, what are you saying?" Divi asked in disbelief.

"Stay away from her. Already so many people have died because of her. We don't want anything to happen to you, leave this house and never come back " Nandini said, horrified, influenced by her mother-in-law's hatred.

"Nandini," Moksh shouted.

"Chachi," Shivnya said, disbelieving her words.

"You've already killed one brother. Your parents couldn't save him. When your parents couldn't be yours, who else will be? Who will you belong to?" Nandini said in a filthy tone.

"Stop it, Mrs. Rajvanshi," Abhimanyu shouted, unable to control his anger. Nandini started to say something again, but Abhimanyu, in an authoritative tone, said, "Just stop it."

"I'm here, and don't you dare speak anything against my wife. Otherwise, I swear on my love, I won't hesitate to kill you in half," Abhimanyu said in rage.

"Mr. Rathore," Shivnya whispered in disbelief at her husband's tone, turning to him and saying sternly, "Keep quiet."

"How efficiently you all blame my wife. Do you even know how much she has to bear to protect them?" He pointed angrily towards Sanj and Divi.

Shivnya, horrified, stammered in anger, "Abhimanyu, don't."

Abhimanyu held her forearms, saying sternly, "Shivnya, I warned you. Make yourself understand that I will not bear anyone disrespecting you. If they do, they'll face consequences."

Shivnya knew things were out of her hands now. Abhimanyu wouldn't listen. Defeated, she sat on the couch, her hands on her temples. Abhimanyu continued, revealing the truth.

"You, who blame my wife, she protected your children countless times. The underground room of your house, this lady used to lock her in that room and punish her. Those memories still haunt her. On our wedding day, she feared leaving these three alone, knowing this lady would harm them. My wife took all their punishments and never told them."

"Abhi, stop," Shivnya pleaded, but Aarav, his blood boiling, sternly said, "Let him speak, Shivuu."

Abhimanyu, in a filthy tone, said to Aarav, "You call yourself her elder brother? Shame on you, Aarav. I feel disgusted calling you my best friend. Your sister suffered because of you four. Remember the 'onion paratha'? One day, when she was stealing your share, she was punished by not being allowed to eat. And how your mom and dad treated my wife, I don't need to remind you."

Aarav, shocked, realized the extent of his family's actions, hidden perfectly by his Dadi.

"This lady threatened her with whips. Who knows, she might have even used them." Abhimanyu's words stunned everyone. Before anyone could respond, Shivnya shouted and pushed him in anger, tears still flowing.

"ABHIMANYU RATHORE, SHUT UP!"

Abhimanyu, holding her hands, said, "Why, darling, why? They should know what she has done." Shivnya hugged him, finding solace in him as always, her tears wetting his shirt. He wrapped his arms around her, saying in anger, "And the climax, she didn't kill her bua . She was in an accident saving Sanj."

"I said stop! Why Don't you listen?" Shivnya said in anger, trying to push him, but he continued sternly, "Remember, now she has family, a protective and supportive family. Don't even think of saying anything. She has her mom and dad who love her eternally, her brother and sister. She doesn't need you guys . If you dare to point fingers, I'll cut your hand."

"Abhimanyu," Shivnya shouted, sitting on the couch defeatedly. Her siblings went near her, crying.

"Diii, why? Why did you hide all this?" Aayansh asked, feeling guilty for her suffering.

Shivnya, stammering, said, "You shouldn't have known."

"We should have known before, Diii," Divi said, tears escaping his eyes. Shivnya wiped their tears, saying, "No, guys."

They hugged her tightly. Sanj, murmuring, said, "Diii, we're really sorry. Because of us, you had to face all this."

Aarav, standing in shock, felt ashamed and angry at his family. "No, I don't want all this. I'm fine, guys. I love you. Don't feel pity on your Diii," Shivnya said, her tears dried, only the stains left. Abhimanyu, watching, didn't want to stay where his wife wasn't respected.

As they heard her words, their hearts ached. "Diii, we're proud of you. Why would we feel pity? Diii, we love you," Aayansh said with a heavy heart.

Abhimanyu came, holding her wrist firmly, making her stand. "Shivnya, let's go. This place isn't worthy of you."

Shivnya didn't move. Abhimanyu said loudly, "Shivnya," and dragged her away. Her siblings cried, but no one stopped them.

Sanj tried to run after her, shouting, "Diii," but her grandfather stopped her.

"Why did you do all this? Why did you tell them?" As they reached outside, Shivnya shouted in anger, the security stunned but bowing their heads.

"They needed to know. You are not a saint. Even if you are, now you're the wife of a devil, and they needed to know. Don't try to be God; be human. I will always stand before you like a shield to protect you," Abhimanyu said in a stern tone. Shivnya started to say something but was cut off as Abhimanyu commanded, "Sit, we will talk at home."

Shivnya didn't move an inch. He picked her up in bridal style, placed her in the car, and settled in. She tried to open the door but failed because Abhimanyu had locked it. He sternly said, "Be quiet and sit. Don't you dare try to open the door or throw tantrums. I have my ties with me."

As he spoke, she remembered how he had tied her up on the night of the launch party. She sat quietly, but didn't look at him. He came closer, and she glared at him with bloodshot eyes as he fastened her seatbelt and drove off at high speed.

They reached the haveli, and Abhimanyu rushed to open the car door for Shivnya. She stepped out without sparing him a glance, her face a canvas of heartbreak. Her eyes, swollen and bloodshot, shimmered with the remnants of tears, and her cheeks were flushed, marked with streaks where the tears had dried. She moved as if on autopilot, her steps slow and heavy, every inch of her body radiating anguish. Her hair fell in wild, untamed waves around her face, her saree's pallu slipping from her shoulder, utterly forgotten. She looked like a woman who had lost everything. The silence around her was palpable; no one dared to ask her what had happened. She walked straight to her room and shut the door with a loud, definitive click.

Abhimanyu entered the haveli behind her, his heart pounding with anxiety. The entire family was gathered in the hall, their expressions painted with worry, confusion, and anger. His father, Ranveer, stood at the center, his face a mask of fury barely held in check.

"Beta, kya hua wahan par?" Asha asked, her voice trembling with fear.

( Beta what happened there?? )

"Woh aise roote hue kyun aayi, tune kuch kaha?" Riddhimaa's tone was sharp, her eyes narrowing with suspicion, her hands clenched tightly as if bracing for bad news.

( why was she crying?? Did you said something?? )

"Beta, sab thik toh hai na?" Amrita's voice was softer, a plea mixed with concern, as if her words alone could soothe the storm brewing in the room.

( Is everything fine?? )

Abhimanyu raised his hands, a gesture of calm he didn't feel. "Please, aap log shant ho jaiye. Main sab bata raha hoon," he began, but his voice was already strained, barely masking the turmoil inside him.

( Please, everyone calm down. I'm explaining everything )

Before he could continue, Ranveer's anger exploded. "Abhimanyu, last time bhi maine tumhe warning di thi ki meri beti agar tumhare wajah se royi toh-" His voice was harsh, each word cutting like a knife.

( "Abhimanyu, I warned you last time as well, if my daughter sheds tears because of you again-" )

Abhimanyu interrupted, his tone unyielding, a flash of defiance in his eyes. "Do whatever you want. But I cannot tolerate my wife being insulted or someone talking to her in a loud voice." His words were like thunder, crashing through the tension-filled air. Everyone was stunned by the ferocity in his voice; they had never seen him so protective, so fierce.

Confusion rippled through the room, faces glancing at one another for answers. Ajay stepped forward, his expression torn between concern and disbelief. "Beta, but she was trusting you and telling everything, and you went there and told everyone?" His voice was tight with frustration, unable to understand Abhimanyu's decision. The sight of Nandini yanking her children away from Shivnya earlier that day still flashed in his mind like a nightmare.

Abhimanyu's eyes blazed, his jaw clenched. "Batana zaroori tha. Meri biwi koi bhagwan nahi hai jo hamesha unke liye sab kuch kare, aur phir bhi woh log usse itna kuch kahe! Unhe uski kadar kabhi thi hi nahi. Kya galti hai unki? Ki woh apne bhai-behen se itna pyaar karti hai? Ya unhe woh dukh kabhi nahi dena chahti jo unhone jhela hai?" His voice trembled with a raw mix of pain and defiance. He turned to his grandfather, his eyes darkened with a deep-seated resolve.

( "It was necessary to say this. My wife is not a god who will always do everything for them, and yet they say so much to her! They never valued her. What is her fault? That she loves her siblings so much? Or that she never wants them to experience the pain she went through?" )

"Sorry, Dadaji," he said, his voice still holding that edge of quiet rage, "Par agar aaj main woh sab nahi batata, toh unki dadi phir se koi dirty politics khelti unke khilaaf. Unhone shaadi waale din bhi yahi kiya tha, unhone unhe kitna kuch kaha tha! Aap soch bhi nahi sakte, apne ghar ki beti se koi aise baat karta hai kya?" He paused, his voice breaking slightly as he remembered the agony Shivnya had endured. "I admit that I did wrong with Shivnya, but did absolutely right with those people. She is my wife, I know what is right for her and what is not."

( "But if I hadn't said anything today, her grandmother would've played her dirty politics against her again. She did the same thing on the wedding day, and said so many hurtful things to her! Can you even imagine? Does anyone talk to their own daughter like that?" )

His words hung in the air like a bitter truth, the weight of them pressing down on everyone present. There was a moment of silence, thick and heavy, where everyone seemed to feel the sting of his honesty.

Ranveer's face softened for a brief moment, but his worry for his daughter quickly resurfaced. His voice was harsh, his concern masked by his anger. "I don't know what is right and wrong for you!" he barked. "If my daughter doesn't look happy by evening, then you are definitely going to sleep outside the house. Go away, now!" The command came out like a challenge, daring Abhimanyu to defy him.

Abhimanyu felt the sting of his father's words, but he stood his ground, his face hardening with determination. He knew he had to mend things with Shivnya-not just to fulfill his father's demand, but because he couldn't bear to see her so broken, so lost. Every fiber of his being burned with the need to make things right, to hold her and tell her she was not alone.

With a deep breath, he turned towards her room, his steps heavy but purposeful, knowing that whatever came next, he would fight for her. He would fight for them.

ABHIMANYUโ€™S POVย

"Shivuuuu!" I called out,by knocking the door harshly, my voice breaking with desperation, hoping she would hear me. When there was no response, a cold panic gripped my heart. I quickly grabbed my phone and opened the camera feed from the tiny recording device embedded in her mangalsutra pendant, praying for a glimpse of her.

"Jaan..." I pleaded again, trying to keep my voice steady, but it wavered with fear. On the screen, I saw her crumpled on the floor, her shoulders shaking, tears streaming down her face in an endless flow. She was wiping her cheeks frantically, as if she could somehow erase the hurt if she wiped hard enough.

"Please, at least listen to me," I begged, my heart splintering with every second of silence from her side.

"Baby," I whispered, hoping to soften her heart, to reach the part of her that still felt connected to me. I watched as she slowly rose to her feet, and for a moment, hope flickered inside me. Maybe she would come to the door, maybe she would hear me out. I tried to sound cheerful, trying to lighten the weight in her chest.

"Squirrel..." I called her with a tenderness that I hoped would break through her pain.

But the moment the nickname left my lips, she turned away sharply, her face hardening as she moved purposefully toward the dressing table.

"Biwijaan, suniye..." I tried again, desperation lacing my voice. But I watched in horror as she began opening bottles of medicine, her hands shaking with a mix of anger and despair. My heart raced, my breath quickened, and panic gripped me.

"Jaan, no! Don't take those medicines! The doctor strictly said no!" I shouted, my voice breaking, my heart pounding with fear.

She froze, her eyes widening in shock. She looked around the room, bewildered and frightened, trying to figure out how I knew what she was doing. Her expression shifted to anger as she threw the bottle aside and started hurling objects around the room, her frustration boiling over.

"Where the hell are you watching me from?!" she screamed, her voice raw and broken, filled with rage and hurt. She began searching the room frantically, her hands tossing aside anything that could hide a camera.

"Baby, there's no camera in the room," I insisted, trying to soothe her, my voice trembling.

But she didn't believe me. She was consumed by her pain, her trust shattered. She picked up a heavy vase, her eyes wild, and lifted it above her head, ready to smash it to the floor.

"Shivuuu, don't! Please, listen to me, just for a second!" I shouted, panic surging through me, my voice cracking. She paused, her grip on the vase loosening. Slowly, she set it back down and walked toward the door.

I felt my heart leap into my throat as I heard her footsteps growing closer, each step like a heartbeat pounding against my chest. I was sitting on the other side of the door, my hand resting on the wood, praying for her to come to me.

She reached the door and placed her hand against it, mirroring mine, and I felt the warmth of her presence through the cold barrier between us. I pressed my palm harder against the door, desperate to bridge the distance.

"Bache, if I hadn't told them about your sacrifice, they would never have valued you," I whispered, my voice breaking with emotion. "Jaan, it was necessary... they needed to know."

She let out a broken sob, her voice filled with anguish. "No... it wasn't," she cried, her words choked by hiccups, each one like a dagger twisting in my chest.

I could feel her pain radiating through the door, her tears soaking into the wood, and I wanted nothing more than to hold her, to take away every ounce of her hurt. I tried to make her understand, to see the reason behind my actions. "Baby, it was... they spoke so cruelly about you, even when it wasn't your fault. You know I can't tolerate anyone saying anything bad about you," I said, my voice soft but insistent, trying to reach the love we still shared.

"I know," she whispered, her voice barely a breath, "but why did you have to tell them everything? I asked you to stop, but you never listen... you always do what you think is right, not what I want." Her words were filled with pain, and I could hear the heartbreak in every syllable.

As she continued to cry, I realized with a sinking feeling that I had failed her in the worst way. I hadn't listened. I had acted on my own impulses, ignoring her wishes, and in doing so, I had broken the trust she placed in me. I had hurt her deeply, when all she needed was my silence and support.

Her words hit me like a punch to the gut, shame washing over me like a tidal wave. She was right. I had been so consumed with my need to protect her, to fight for her honor, that I hadn't thought about what she needed, what she wanted.

"Shivuu," I murmured, my voice thick with regret. "I'm so sorry... I swear, my intentions were never to hurt you. I just... I just wanted them to see, to understand your worth. But I should have listened to you... I should have respected your wishes."

"It's always like this! Don't talk to me! You turned my worst nightmare into reality today!" Shivnya's voice cracked as anger and heartbreak fused together. Her heart felt heavy, each beat painful.

"Okay... if you truly believe it's my fault, then I'm sorry, jaan. Please, forgive me," Abhimanyu's voice was low, defeated. For him, nothing else mattered but her-not being right, not the argument. All he wanted was her, only her, forever.

"You can't keep making mistakes and then just apologizing like it's enough! I'm not some doll for you to play with, Abhimanyu!" she snapped, her hands shaking. Her tears had dried, leaving a stinging emptiness in their wake. Her world was reduced to him-her siblings, her responsibilities, none of it mattered in this moment. She just needed him to see her, to understand her pain. She needed him to know he couldn't keep repeating the same mistakes.

"Jaan, I'm really, really sorry... I've never thought of you as a doll, ever." His voice broke, and the sincerity of his words sent a pang through her. The silence that followed felt suffocating, thick with the weight of everything unsaid. Shivnya's heart clenched. Had he left her? she wondered, her breath catching at the thought of being abandoned when she was hurting the most.

Then, after what felt like an eternity, she saw it-pages, one after another, slipping underneath the door.

Each one was like a piece of his heart, laid bare in front of her.

"Sorry, jaan. Please forgive your baby."

"Betu, I swear on everything, I won't make the same mistake again. Please, jaan, please open the door."

"Sorry, baby. I can't live without you. Please, I'm begging you, forgive me."

"Bachhe, forgive this idiot who loves you more than anything else in this world."

"Wifey, hume maaf kar dijiye. I made a mistake, but from now on, I'll listen to every word you say."

"Biwi, I'm sorry for the pain I caused with my anger. I can't bear to hurt you."

"Love, don't cry. Seeing you in pain breaks my heart, jaan."

"Sweetheart, please open the door. Don't let this one moment create a distance between us. I'm nothing without you."

"Jaan, I'll die without you. Please, please open this door."

The notes kept coming, each one more heartfelt than the last, until they formed a sea of apologies at her feet. One hundred notes. One hundred heartfelt pleas for her forgiveness. Shivnya read each letter, her emotions swirling in a confusing storm. One moment, she felt the overwhelming urge to throw open the door, run into his arms, and tell him that she forgave him. To bury her face in his chest and feel the warmth of his love surround her again. But then, doubt crept in-the sting of his mistakes still too fresh, still too raw.

Her heart ached with the weight of it all. She loved him, deeply, but could she trust him to change?
