36. RAT AND MONKEY

SHIVNYAโ€™S POVย

Finally, as Abhi and I were about to share our first kiss-a moment that felt like a lifetime in the making-we heard a knock at the door. Abhi's eyes were filled with a burning determination as he leaned in again, but just as our lips were about to touch, there was another knock, followed by a small, familiar voice. It was our little champ. I could feel Abhimanyu's frustration and anger bubbling beneath the surface, but I couldn't help but feel a surge of affection for the little one. Kids have an uncanny way of interrupting even the most perfect moments.

I gently urged Abhimanyu to check on him. He sighed, clearly annoyed, but went to the door. As he opened it, I heard his mother say, "Anirudh, come on, your badi maa and bade papa are sleeping." But our little champ, with his stubborn streak, insisted, "No, I will sleep with my princess!"

Abhimanyu's face was a mix of exasperation and sarcasm as he replied, "He doesn't want to sleep with you guys. He only wants to sleep with Shivuu." Anirudh's big doe eyes lit up with excitement, nodding eagerly. But Abhimanyu had other plans. He glared at Ansh before looking at Anirudh and saying, "But kiddo, she's asleep. So tonight, you should sleep with your parents."

I almost laughed at his ridiculous excuse. Pretending I was asleep? Really, Abhi? I smirked internally, but my amusement was cut short when I heard our little cutie persist, "No, I will sleep near her."

Abhimanyu's patience was clearly wearing thin. Anirudh darted past him, determined to reach me. I quickly lay down, covering myself with the blanket. Abhimanyu stood there, stunned, as Radhika apologized, "Sorry, Bhaisa." Abhimanyu just glared at Ansh and then closed the door with a thud, his frustration palpable. I knew how much he valued our stolen moments, and now, they were disrupted.

Anirudh climbed onto the bed, removing the blanket from my face with his tiny hands. His fingers gently touched my cheeks, and my heart melted. Suddenly, Abhimanyu's strict voice cut through the tenderness, "Let her sleep, and you also sleep." But Anirudh was determined to wake me, "Princess, wake up. Nini aayi hai "

Hearing his soft, insistent voice, I couldn't help but stir. But before I could respond, Abhimanyu shouted, "Tumhe ek baar mein baat samajh nahi aati?" Anirudh's eyes filled with tears, and he started crying. I immediately sat up, scooped him into my arms, and settled him in my lap. "Abhi!" I exclaimed, my voice a mix of scolding and concern.

( Don't you understand at once )

I wiped Anirudh's tears, whispering softly, "Stop crying, betu." Abhimanyu approached us, looking a bit remorseful. Anirudh, still sniffling, said meekly, "Danta unhone." I glared at Abhimanyu. I knew he wasn't fond of children, but shouting at them was too much. "Abhi, kyun daanta aapne usse? Ab ye rota rahega aur nahi soyega. Bahut galat kiya aapne."

( he scolded )

( abhi why are you scolding him now he will cry and moreover he won't sleep also , you did wrong )ย

" but Jaan-" he began, but I interrupted, "Ani, aise nahi rote, bade papa hai. Koi baat nahi." I held Anirudh closer, wiping his tears and trying to soothe him. "Shhh... You are a good and brave boy. Now stop crying. He will bring chocolate for you." As soon as I mentioned chocolates, his eyes sparkled through the remnants of his tears. "really ?" he asked with a hopeful smile.

(ani don't cry like this he is your uncle it's okay )

I smiled back, my heart swelling with affection. " Yes ." He looked at Abhi, who nodded, confirming my promise. "Chalo, let's sleep," I said gently. Anirudh quickly settled into the corner of the bed, ready to sleep. I knew I would end up sleeping between the two of them again.

I began to pat his head softly, humming a lullaby. Within ten minutes, he was fast asleep, exhausted from his day. As he slept, I turned to see Abhimanyu still awake. His eyes, filled with longing and sadness, met mine. I reached out and touched his cheek gently. "Aap ab tak soye nahi?"

( you didn't sleept till now )ย

"Nahi," he replied, his voice tinged with a soft melancholy.

ย ( no )

"Kyun?" I asked, a tender smile playing on my lips.

( why )

"Kyunki hume humari jaan ne daanta hai, aur hume kiss bhi nahi mili," he complained, sounding like a petulant child.

( because my love scolded me and didn't gave my kiss also )ย

I chuckled softly, "Ohhh, toh aapne bhi toh galat kiya na. Aap kyun Ani ko itna daante hai? Bacha hai wo."

( ohh so you also did wrong na , why do you always scold him he is a kid )ย

He huffed, his voice laced with mock indignation, "Aapko lagta hai wo bacha hai? Mujhe toh mere romance ka dushman lagta hai."

( for you he is kid but for me he is a devil of my romance )

I reached out, touching his arm gently, "Aise nahi kehte hai, Abhi."

( abhi don't say like this )

He glanced at the sleeping Anirudh and then back at me, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Jaan, he is asleep now. Should we kiss?"

I was taken aback by his persistence and laughed softly, "Abhi, bhool gaye aap? Last time jab apne kitchen mein hume kiss kiya tha, usne sabke samne kya kiya tha. I'm not taking any risks. Sleep now."

( Abhi, did you forget ? last time when you kissed me in the kitchen what he did in front of everyone , i'm not taking any risks . sleep now )

"But Jaan, he is already asleep-" he began, but I interrupted, "Humne kaha na, no means no. Aur kal hum ghar toh jaa rahe hai."

ย ( i said na no means no and we are going home tomorrow )

He sighed, defeated but still hopeful. "Fine." As I turned away, he pulled me close, his arms wrapping around my waist, his breath warm against my neck. The sensation sent shivers down my spine. Despite everything, I felt a sense of peace and contentment.

His voice was a whisper in the darkness, filled with love and longing, "Good night, Jaan."

I smiled, feeling his warmth envelop me, and whispered back, "Good night, Abhi." And with that, we both drifted into a deep, restful sleep, our hearts intertwined even if our moment had to wait.

ABHIMANYUโ€™S POVย

I woke up in the morning as the sunlight filtered into the room, casting a warm glow over everything. My jaan was still nestled in my embrace, her soft breaths soothing me. That little monster was clinging to her, and memories of yesterday rushed back. We were so close to finally kissing each other, to feeling her soft, plump lips against mine, but he had ruined the moment.

I decided to take a walk in our garden . I dressed quickly and headed out, the fresh morning air helping to clear my mind. After half an hour, I returned to the room to find both of them still asleep. I went to the bathroom to freshen up, and when I came out in just my pants, I saw Anirudh cuddling my jaan and playing with her hair and cheeks while she slept.

Quickly, I moved towards him and gently scooped him up. He looked at me, annoyed, and started flailing his little arms and legs. But his tiny frame was no match for me. I set him down on the floor and said in a stern but soft tone, "Why are you disturbing your badi maa when she's asleep?"

He looked at me with narrowed eyes and said with a childish defiance, "She is my princess, and I wasn't disturbing her; I was playing with her."

I was taken aback by his audacity. Crossing my arms, I replied, "When she's asleep?"

He mimicked my stance, puffing his cheeks and crossing his arms, looking like a little cartoon character. "Yes."

I struggled to keep a straight face as I scolded him gently, "You shouldn't do that."

He asserted, "I can do this; she is my princess."

I couldn't believe how boldly he was claiming my wife. "No, she isn't. She is mine. She is my wife."

With a smirk and a grin, he said, "But she will marry me too."

I pointed at him angrily, "You little rat, your mouth doesn't open when she is awake."

He grinned, showing his tiny teeth, and I was amazed at his cunning. Looking at my jaan who was still peacefully asleep, I murmured, "My jaan is so naive that she always trusts you."

He jumped on the couch, declaring proudly, "Yes, my princess is naive that she married you."

I pointed at him again and shouted in mock anger, "You little rat!"

He argued back, "I am not a rat."

I couldn't help but retort, "You are a rat."

He pointed at me and said, "Then you are a monkey."

I was taken aback by his cheekiness. If he were an adult, I would have really disciplined him by now. "How dare you speak that way to your bade papa? Now I won't give you any chocolates."

He smirked, confident in his reply, "My princess will give them to me."

I declared with possessive anger, "She is my princess, my wife, and my jaan."

"No, she is mine," he argued back, jumping on the couch again.

"No, she is mine," I insisted, my frustration growing.

"She is mine," he shouted again.

"She is mine-" I started to say, but before I could finish, Shivnya stirred and slowly opened her eyes. "What the hell, why are you both fighting?"

Anirudh ran to her, putting on a fake sniff and a teary face, "Princess, bade papa is scolding me."

I was stunned at how quickly he changed his behavior. Shivnya, still half-asleep, looked at me with annoyance. "Abhi, why are you scolding him?"

I tried to explain but was cut off, "But jaan-"

She interrupted in her sleepy voice, "Abhi, let me sleep, and don't you dare scold him. I'm already tired, so let me sleep in peace."

I sighed, knowing I couldn't win this argument. "Yes, jaan, you sleep."

As she lay back down, the little rat said in a childish tone, "Princess, I will go to my mumma. You sleep." I murmured under my breath as he left the room, "You little rat, meet me outside. I'll show you who I am."

Finally, he left. I went to my jaan and gently caressed her head. She wrapped her arms around my arm and murmured, "Aap mat danta kijiye uss bechare ko." Even in her sleep, she cared about him. She didn't even seem to care about me at that moment, but nevertheless, she is my wife and I love her dearly.

( don't scold that poor fellow )

After 10 minutes of sitting by her side, she sat up sleepily. I asked with concern, "What happened, jaan?"

She looked at me and rested her head on my shoulder, "Humari neend udd gyi hai." I felt a pang of guilt hearing that. He is just a kid, but I am an adult. I should have behaved more maturely with him.

ย ( my sleep has gone away )

"Sorry, jaan," I said softly.

She gave me a sleepy smile and said, "Sorry hume bolna chaiye. Hum kal raat ko bhi aap par chillaye the aur aaj subah bhi. Sorry."

( i should say sorry i shouted on yesterday also today morning also sorry )

I smiled, touched by her sweetness and understanding. I cupped her cheeks gently, "No, jaan, it was my mistake. I should be the one apologizing."

She looked at me with a drowsy smile and asked, "What time is it?"

"8 AM," I replied casually.

Her eyes widened in shock, "What? Why didn't you wake me up? Now bua ji will again say something." She jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom, but I was quick to react. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards me, her hands landing on my bare chest. I wrapped my arms tightly around her waist, my voice firm yet filled with love, "Did she say something to you again?"

She looked at me with wide eyes and tried to wriggle out of my hold, "Nahi, Abhi-"

( no abhi - )

I interrupted, my tone authoritative, "Tell me, what did she say?"

She continued to try to free herself, "Leave it na, let me get ready."

"But-" Before I could finish, she planted a quick kiss on my cheek, making me loosen my grip in surprise. She darted into the bathroom, leaving me standing there, bewildered. My cat is really a mysterious and unpredictable creature. I chuckled at her antics and called out, "Love, come outside. I'll show you how to kiss properly; that was just a peck." All I heard was her giggling from the bathroom.

Smiling to myself, I got dressed and prepared for the day, my heart filled with love for my unpredictable, adorable wife.

AUTHORโ€™S POVย

Shivnya emerged from the bathroom, dressed in a stunning navy blue and white outfit. She descended to the hall where her husband, Abhimanyu, was already engaged in a lively conversation with Ansh and Aarav.

As she walked in, Abhimanyu's gaze locked onto her, unable to tear his eyes away. She yawned, her sleep clearly not yet fulfilled, and Abhimanyu chuckled softly, enchanted by his adorable wife. The moment she reached the hall, their little monster, Anirudh, ran to her and clung to her side with childlike possessiveness.

Later, they all settled down for breakfast. Shivnya, still yawning, caught Ridhimaa's attention. "Kya hua beta, neend puri nahi hui?" she asked, concern lacing her voice. Across the table, Avni and Radhika exchanged knowing smirks and glanced teasingly at Shivnya.

( what happened child you didn't slept well ? )ย

"Maa, bas thodi thakan hai, " Shivnya replied, reaching for her black coffee. Nalini eyed her with suspicion. After breakfast, Radhika and Avni cornered Shivnya in the kitchen, their faces alight with mischief.

( maa just some tiredness )ย

With a sly smirk, Radhika began, "Bhabhi, kal toh Anirudh bhi tha. Tab bhi nahi so payi aap?"

( sister in law yesterday anirudh was also there then also you can't able to sleep ?? )ย

Shivnya's eyes widened as she exclaimed, "Radhika!"

Avni, grinning from ear to ear, added, "Bhabhi, Anirudh ke samne bhi... very progressive."

( sister in law infront of anirudh also very progressive )

Flustered, Shivnya tried to explain with a weary face, "Shut up, both of you. What are you even saying? I couldn't sleep because Abhi and Ani fought the entire night. Their endless bickering kept me awake. I was already exhausted from yesterday, and on top of that, Abhimanyu had some work with Dadaji, which took even more time."

"Oh, we thought of something else," Avni said with a playful pout, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

Radhika, still teasing, asked, "So, you're upset and tired because of that?"

"No, Radhika," Shivnya replied with heavy sarcasm, "Don't you think you guys overthink too much?"

Avni, with a soft, puppy-eyed look, pleaded, "Bhabhi, please fulfill my wish."

Shivnya, utterly confused, and Radhika asked, "Which wish?"

Avni chuckled, "Wo mami aur bua wali."

( that becoming an aunt one )ย

Shivnya's jaw dropped in shock. "Hey Mahadev-"

( oh god )

At that moment, Nalini entered the kitchen, catching the last part of their conversation. "Kon bua aur mami ban rahi hai?"

( who is becoming the maternal and paternal aunt )

All three of them panicked. Shivnya quickly excused herself, "Mujhe packing karne jana hai," and darted out of the kitchen.

( i have to do packing )ย

"Mujhe bhi," Avni said, following closely behind.

( mee too )

"Mujhe Anirudh ko dekhna hai," Radhika added, also making a swift exit.

( i have to keep an eye on anirudh )ย

Nalini, now thoroughly confused, murmured to herself, "In ladkiyon ko kya hua?"

( what happened to these girls ? )

Shivnya hurried to her chamber to pack her things, her heart racing. Abhimanyu was there, focused on his work. Suddenly, her phone rang. She answered the call and was instructed to check her emails. As she opened her inbox and read the message, her eyes widened in shock.
